Rethink & Retool

TCL – Global Electronics Producer & Asset Recovery Project

TCL is a Chinese multinational and one of the world’s top 25 consumer electronics producers. In January 2013, they purchased the naming rights for Grauman’s Chinese Theatre for $5 million, renaming it the TCL Chinese Theatre.

Expansion into Mexico

In 2007, TCL became the first mainland Chinese company to establish a plant in Juarez, Mexico, aiming to manufacture TVs for the U.S. market. In hindsight, their expansion proved premature, as they struggled to establish a strong brand presence in America.

Transition & Acquisition

The plant manufactured TVs for LG and Philips for a time, but as TCL’s global priorities shifted, they approached us to explore asset recovery. Impressed by the plant’s capabilities and potential, we acquired it in March 2013 and re-tooled the facility to serve the automotive market.

Today

Tekmart Integrated Manufacturing Services (TIMS) has since evolved into a versatile 650,000 sq. ft. facility, supplying components for the automotive, healthcare, consumer electronics, and white goods industries.
